Dumpster Frequently Asked Questions
Most important question: Are there any extra administrative, truck, or fuel charges when renting a dumpster?
Absolutely NOT! When you receive a quote, that is the price you will be charged. The only time the price can change is if hazardous materials are placed in container, the weight of material exceeds the tonnage limit for the dumpster size, or if you rent outside the typical 7 day rental.
What can I put in my dumpster?
Dumpsters are used for the disposal of general waste. This is typically anything involved with a general cleanup that is neither liquid nor hazardous in nature.
Unacceptable Materials:
Hazardous waste, chemical products, herbicides & pesticides, radioactive material, solvents, paint (except completely dried latex paint cans, no liquids), flammable liquids, aerosol cans, propane tanks, motor oil, transmission/lubricating/hydraulic oil, oil filters, contaminated oils (mixed with solvents, gasoline, etc.), antifreeze, appliances containing freon, petroleum-contaminated soil, lead paint chips, tires, batteries, computer towers, monitors, televisions, microwaves, fluorescent tubes, railroad ties, medical waste, asbestos, animals, barrels, all liquids.
How much material can a dumpster hold?
Dumpsters can only hold materials LEVEL FULL and to specified weight. Do not overfill dumpsters because material over the top is potentially hazardous to our operators and other vehicles on the roadway. No loads of concrete or dirt. Dense material will fill up to weight capacity before space inside the dumpster is used up. (Haulers face prosecution for unsafe or overweight loads).
What kind of notice do I need to give when ordering my dumpster?
Most of the time we will be able to deliver a dumpster the same day or within 24 hours of ordering, however, it is suggested dumpsters are ordered as far in advance as possible.
Do I need to be there when the dumpster is delivered?
Yes. The customer must be on site when dumpster is delivered unless prior arrangements are made specifying the exact location and payment.
What if I am not finished with the dumpster by pick-up day?
If unforeseen circumstances mean that you are not finished with the dumpster, you should contact us as soon as possible. We are very flexible provided the dumpster hasn't been ordered out on another job.
Can the dumpster be placed anywhere?
No. The dumpster must be placed on a flat hard surface. There can not be any overhead power lines or other obstructions around placement of dumpster. Check with proper authorities if you want the dumpster placed on the street. Whether the dumpster is going on the street or on your property, the truck dropping off and picking up the dumpster needs room to maneuver.
Can the dumpsters damage my property?
Yes. The dumpsters weigh 2 tons and our trucks much more. We would prefer to place the containers on hard surfaces. Lawns may appear dry, but often with rain, the containers or our trucks can sink into the ground. Asphalt driveways under the hot summer sun, can have divots left in them from the weight of the containers. Often putting a piece of plywood down for the container rails to sit on will cut down on possible scratching or scarring of driveways, or ruts in dirt. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for damage done due to placement or pickup of our containers. We will not cross other neighbors property lines without a signed "property damage liability waiver form" from the property owner. Our drivers have the right to deny placement in areas that they deem "unsafe". Call us if you have concerns on where to place your container.
What if someone else puts material in my dumpster without my permission?
Contents of dumpster are the responsibility of the customer. If you or someone else puts unacceptable materials in your dumpster it is still your responsibility.
What safety precautions should be taken with dumpster rental?
Children should not play on, in, or around the dumpster. When you can no longer walk materials into the dumpster make sure the door is closed and secured. Be very careful when loading materials over the top of the dumpster.
Are you licensed and insured to do this type of work?
Yes. We are fully licensed and insured. We are registered with the city, state and federal government and carry the necessary permits.
